My process
I often paint intuitively, starting by putting down a few strokes and then allowing myself to be led by what shows up on paper.
Other times, I find a cozy spot on the beach or somewhere with a great view of the mountains and I paint what I see. Either way, I like to go with the flow and try not be thrown off by the ‘happy little accidents’.
When first viewing my work, people usually ask if I use any magnifying equipment. I actually don’t use anything except my tiny brushes and very fortunate case of nearsightedness.
After over 20 years, I am still completely blown away by the overwhelming beauty of this island and I absolutely love capturing tiny pieces of Maui to share with the world.
These little paintings are made with so much joy and my hope is that you can feel some of it when you look at them.
